Wham! Zapp! Bam!

We are excited to announce that the LibreCube newsletter has undergone a makeover! Starting this month, you’ll notice a fresh, updated format designed to keep you more engaged and informed.

But that’s not all—our previously occasional updates are now becoming a regular feature! You can expect to receive monthly newsletters, packed with all the latest happenings in and around the LibreCube community. We’re committed to keeping you in the loop with timely news, project updates, upcoming events, and more.

We hope you enjoy the new look and feel of our newsletter. As always, your feedback is welcome!

Completion of Google Summer of Code 2024

All our four GSoC projects have come to a successful end, with amazing results to be shared with you. All projects are now part of the LibreCube ecosystem and you can try them out right away on your computer!

Rover Control

Komal created a server application and associated control and viewer clients that lets the user navigate a simulated rover in 2D and 3D environment.

Blockly to PLUTO

Sai created a web application based on blockly that lets users create PLUTO scripts using scratch like block programming.

CCSDS Unified Space Data Link Protocol

Faith implemented the CCSDS USLP protocol and created a demo application that delivers USLP frames over UDP.

SpaceDAO Frontend

Antoine developed the smart contract for space traffic management and a front-end for information visualization

Upcoming Events

  • September 6-8: European Rover Challenge in Krakau, Poland. Jan-Peter, Faith, and Artur will be attending this major event in the extraterrestrial rover community.
  • September 17 10:00 UTC: Virtual Hangout. Our last one was a blast! Let's do this again, to get to know others, have fun, and strengthen our global connections. Mark it in your calendar!
  • October 4-6: Google Summer of Code Mentor Summit. Husseinat and Shayan will be attending and network with other fantastic open source project communities.
